The Gaps command provides you with the ability to detect gaps in sequences of numbers. This feature is often used to look for missing cheque numbers, invoices numbers and other types of data that is made up of an incremental sequence of numbers.
Select The Column To Analyze
Select the numeric column to test here. ActiveData will analyze the data in that column and determine the minimum and maximum values (starting amount and ending amount) and the increment.
Start Value
This is the lowest value in the sequence. This is calculated by the software but can be overwritten if required.
End Value
This is the highest value in the sequence. This is calculated by the software but can be overwritten if required.
Increment
This is the increment. For columns containing cheque and invoice numbers, this value is typically set to 1.
Show Missing Items Only
Show only the items that are missing.
Ignore Duplicate Items
If any duplicate items are detected, ignore them.
Remove Duplicate Items from Output Worksheet
If any duplicate items are detected, do not write the duplicates to the resulting output worksheet.
Preview
Perform the analysis but display the results in the preview grid.
Finished
Perform the analysis and write the results to a new worksheet.
